Frequently Asked Questions About Turkey Travel & Tours

  • Is it Turkey or Türkiye?
The country's official name is Türkiye, as recognized by the United Nations and adopted by the Turkish government in 2022. The change was made to better reflect the country's cultural and historical identity and to distinguish it from the English word "turkey." Turkey is still commonly used internationally in English-speaking countries, and both names are understood. However, when referring to the country in an official or formal setting, Türkiye is the preferred term.
  • When is the best time to visit Turkey?
The best time for trips to Turkey is during spring (April–June) and autumn (September–November), when the weather is mild and ideal for sightseeing. Summer (June–August) is perfect for sunny days on the Turquoise Coast, while winter (December–February) offers a unique experience in Cappadocia and Istanbul, with fewer crowds.
  • How far in advance should I plan a Turkey trip?
We recommend starting to plan a trip to Turkey 4–10 months before you want to go, especially for peak travel seasons and popular destinations like Cappadocia and Ephesus. When it comes to booking flights, airlines typically publish fares 10-12 months in advance. Off-peak (April–May, October–November), you can book for better deals 3–6 months in advance. Luckily, we take care of all of that for you! If travelers want to go for a special anniversary or event, they’ll call us years ahead of time to book so they know they are set and we're handling the details for them. While we love a great last-minute getaway, always ensure your passport is valid for at least six months after you plan to return to the States. Keep current with country entry restrictions, and ensure you have any visas you’ll need to travel. Planning earlier allows you plenty of time to renew your passport or apply for a visa if required.
