Customs & Immigration

Medical Issues Abroad
|
| There are no serious health risks in the United States. Just be careful of sunburn in the warm summer months or frostbite in those winter months.
To be on the safe side, if you have a history of any medical condition, you should bring a medical record. This would include: your blood type, immunization record, allergies, medications you are currently taking (both prescription and non-prescription), your doctor's name, address, phone number, emergency contact name and phone number, and your insurance company's name, address and phone number.
Tap water is safe, but still bring some anti-diarrheal medicine, as the change in cuisines, water and altitude can have an effect on your body's digestive system.
If you have a medical emergency, contact your hotel staff or the local police for assistance. They can direct you to a hospital.

Traveling Safely
|
| Always be alert and aware of your surroundings. The official language is English, so getting around should not be a problem. Carry your passport or other identification at all times - it really should not leave your possession during your entire journey.
The United States is relatively safe with very little theft or crime for tourists. Rental cars are the most common form of transportation, as it's very easy to get around. Public transportation is certainly efficient and inexpensive, just watch your pocket books and wallets. Try to stay on the main routes. Just use caution when you are in unfamiliar areas.
