Arrive in Italy’s capital, Rome, for a relaxing 3-night stay. This evening enjoy a Welcome Reception with your Tour Director and meet your fellow travel companions.

| Day 3 Rome: |

This morning experience a very special, privately guided tour with your local expert of the priceless collection of art and treasures found in the Sistine Chapel and Vatican Museum. See the beautiful frescoes created by Michelangelo, Perugino and Botticelli and marvel at the unique ceiling of the Sistine Chapel, surely one of Michelangelo’s greatest achievements. Visit St. Peter’s Basilica, the largest church in the Christian world, then continue to the famous Colosseum. See the Roman Forum and Circus Maximus of Ben Hur fame en-route. The evening is at leisure to take a stroll through medieval Rome, see the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon or throw a coin into the Trevi Fountain.

| Day 4 Rome: |

A full day to explore this mecca of art and history or perhaps join an optional tour to the ruins of Pompeii to visit this ancient Roman city, buried in 79 AD by an eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Then pause in the beautiful town of Sorrento, nestled by the blue Mediterranean sea, with free time to shop for the local inlaid wood before returning to Rome.

| Day 5 Rome - Assisi - Florence: |

Today we journey north to the hilltop village of Assisi to visit the amazing 13th-century Basilica of St. Francis with its impressive fresco paintings. This afternoon, enjoy a visit to the medieval Castle of Vicchiomaggio for a wine lecture and tasting of the fine local wines with homemade antipasti as part of our Explore and Discover series. Hear first hand from the locals how they produce this world renowned wine and enjoy the breathtaking views of the undulating hills so reminiscent of the movie “A Room with a View”. Then, it's on to a pleasant 2- night stay in Florence, capital of Tuscany and home of the Renaissance!

Signoria Square, Santa Croce Basilica and the Baptistry are all included on your sightseeing tour of this historic city. Enjoy a highlight visit to the Academia to view Michelangelo’s magnificent statue of David.

| Day 7 Florence - Pisa - Venice: |

We travel to Pisa this morning to view the famous Leaning Tower, then continue on to magical Venice for 2 relaxing nights!

| Day 8 Venice: |

The finest way to absorb Venice’s unusual sights and sounds and unique Byzantine atmosphere is on an included canal cruise. Our private boat takes you to St. Mark’s Square to view the Bridge of Sighs and Doges’ Palace. Also featured is a visit to see traditional Venetian glass blowers at work and another highlight of the tour, a gondola ride. Your afternoon is at leisure.

| Day 9 Venice - Lugano - Baveno: |

This morning we head across the plains of Lombardy to the spectacular Swiss and Italian Lake District. Afternoon stop in the fashionable lakeside Swiss resort of Lugano. Time for last minute shopping in Via Nassa before continuing to our hotel. Tonight, we enjoy a Highlight Farewell Dinner in Isola Bella, one of the beautiful Borromean Islands of Lake Maggiore with splendid views of the surrounding Alps. A truly magnificent setting as we remember the very best of Italy!
